Hybrid Life Cycle Assessment

This 'Hybrid' feature allows you to perform a hybrid life cycle assessment (LCA) for a custom product. The term 'hybrid' indicates that you will be able to create your own theoretical sector through which you will be able to model a custom product or process based on input-output data from the EIO-LCA model and process LCA data to which you may have access.

This feature will allow you to look beyond the aggregation of existing EIO-LCA sectors and towards a more fine-tuned analysis of various custom products, including early development, hypothetical, or existing products that may not be adequately modeled with the existing aggregation of the input-output sector in question (i.e. an electric car, palm pilot, hydrogen fuel cell, or specific existing product).

Because the input-output model used has 491 sectors, this Hybrid feature will provide you with information regarding the sectors that directly contribute in the economic supply chain of a 'model' sector of your choice.

Curious how the Hybrid feature operates? (Show/Hide)

Please select the input-output sector that you think best approximates your custom product by browsing through the 491 sector list for the U.S. Dept of Commerce Industry Benchmark EIO model from 1997 (contributed by the Green Design Institute).

Also, what is the level of increased economic activity for the selected sector? This value refers to producer price (not consumer price) in 1997 $.
