Post subject: | Carbon emissions by physical quantity and by sub-activity |
Hello, I am an intern working on a carbon footprinting project for a food production company. I have a couple of questions. 1) The EIO-LCA model tells us the Carbon emissions per economic activity (per $million etc). Would it be possible to obtain the carbon emissions by physical quantity? (per KG, per tonne produced)? 2) The EIO-LCA model tells us the combined carbon emissions for the processes within the boundaries of 'cradle-to-gate'. However, I would like to obtain carbon emissions data at each step of the process (e.g. Primary processing of grain = xxx CO2 emisisons/kg, secondary processing of grain = xxx CO2 emissions/kg). How do I get such information? Would greatly appreciate any help. Thank you! |

I had e-mailed this user directly, but wanted to archive the reply here. 1) Its possible to make physical unit input-output models, but we do not have sufficient data to make it for the entire US (what would be needed for this request). The only option is to do a conversion that is user-provided to convert between dollars and kg. 2) What you're asking for is basically called a structural path analysis. We do not currently have that available on the website, but could support such an activity offline. Contact us for details. |
