|Post subject:||question about EIOLCA|
If I would like to know energy consumed in producing 1000 gallon of gasoline, Just getting data from "petroleum refineries" sector is ok, or do I have to add the energy used in extraction phase from "oil and gas extraction sector". In other words, does energy intensity obtained from "petroleum refineries" include energy used for crude oil extraction, or it only reflects energy used in refining oil.
Also where can I find producer prices? Thank you.

An input-output model always includes all previous steps in the supply chain.
Thus when you look at a change of demand in the "petroleum refineries" sector, it includes everything in the supply chain before it, including, as you ask, the oil (and gas) extracted.
To use the model, you'll need to find 1997 prices of petroleum products. We do not keep a database of those (but please write back to this forum if you find such a source).
